The menus are prepared. The neon signs and funky decorations are in place. The 27 food vendors are ready.

Now the Delray Beach Market is just waiting on visitors. And on Saturday, they’ll be welcomed inside to see what developers are calling the largest food hall in Florida.

The mega food hall, Delray Beach Market's grand opening

After years of planning, the 150,000-square foot market off of Atlantic Avenue is hosting a grand opening on Saturday, April 24, starting at 10 a.m.

Performances by a circus troupe and the Atlantic Community High School’s marching band will be just a couple of the festivities on the schedule. Local and state leaders will attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony. At 11 a.m., the doors will officially open to the public.

Architect Jose Gonzalez called the building "bright" and "happy", saying its design was "tropical modern."

Across the floor, different colored arrows lead visitors through the market, while hanging signs and a wide variety of cuisines from vendors will have visitors slowing down to take it all in. (Think Lebanese to Indian to fresh seafood and more.)

The Delray Beach Market opens to the public on Saturday, April 24, 2021.

"We’ve tried to make it big enough that you have enough little alleyways and nooks and crannies that people can invest their time to get here and spend time," said Craig Menin, the founder of Menin Development. Speaking about the visuals of the site, he mentioned that he was still finalizing plans for a large-scale mural near the entrance of the parking garage.

Menin emphasized his team's goal of making the space "a part of the fabric of the community" in Delray Beach.

"If this thing is just considered a food hall," he said, "we think we will not have achieved what we wanted to."
